Nineteen areas of the UK are bracing themselves for a deluge this Saturday as heavy rain sweeps across the country, according to the Met Office's latest forecast. The national weather service has pinpointed regions in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland where the heaviest downpours are expected, with some areas potentially facing localised flooding.
The affected regions include parts of South West England, the Midlands, North East England, western and central Scotland, and specific areas of South Wales. In contrast, Northern Ireland is expected to see lighter, more scattered showers rather than prolonged heavy rain, although this forecast may be subject to change.
Temperatures will remain mild across the UK, ranging from 10°C to 14°C in affected areas, while wind speeds are moderate at around 10-20 mph. However, exposed coastal areas could see gusts stronger than elsewhere, adding to the wet and blustery conditions.
The Met Office is urging residents to be prepared for challenging weather conditions, advising them to check local flood alerts, clear drains where possible, and allow extra time for journeys if travelling by road. Pedestrians and cyclists should also exercise caution due to reduced visibility and slippery surfaces.
