A gift shop owner in Swanage initially thought something "a little bit freaky" was happening when items in the shop's outside yard began to mysteriously move and break at the start of the week.
Rachel Eaton, from Curiosity Swanage, checked the shop's CCTV and discovered a hedgehog was responsible. Footage from Monday night reportedly showed a Buddha statue appearing to move on its own. The following evening, the hedgehog was filmed climbing a large wooden beam before falling into a hanging basket and then to the floor.
The young animal was safely collected by the shop team on Wednesday and passed on to Dorset Hedgehog Rescue. Jim Dunne, who runs Dorset Hedgehog Rescue, stated he had never seen such an "adventurous hedgehog" before. The young female, nicknamed "Ghost", was kept overnight on Wednesday before being released back into the wild in Dorchester on Thursday.
