Helen Jenner Likely to Become New Reform Wales Leader

Helen Jenner, the current deputy leader, is expected to take over as the leader of Reform Wales, according to sources.

  • Helen Jenner is the favourite to replace Dan Thomas as Reform Wales leader.
  • Dan Thomas resigned after being arrested on suspicion of assault and controlling coercive behaviour.
  • The party's Senedd group is meeting to decide on the leadership appointment process.

Helen Jenner is likely to be appointed as the new leader of Reform Wales, sources have indicated to BBC Wales. Ms Jenner, an MS for Bangor Conwy Môn, currently serves as the party's deputy leader in Wales.

She is considered the favourite to succeed Dan Thomas, who resigned following his arrest and bail over suspicions of assault and controlling coercive behaviour. Despite his resignation as leader, Mr Thomas, MS for Casnewydd Islwyn, continues to represent Reform in the Senedd and maintains he has done nothing wrong.

The Reform party's Senedd group is scheduled to meet on Thursday morning to determine whether a vote is required or if an appointment can be made directly. James Evans, the party's health spokesperson, had previously claimed majority support within the group but decided not to stand for the leadership after discussions with his family.
