Chelsea delivered their most complete performance of the season on Saturday, securing a dominant 5-1 victory over Bournemouth. The midfield pairing of Moises Caicedo and Jordan Henderson, playing together for the first time, was central to the Blues' success.
Jordan Henderson, a summer free transfer from Brentford, stole the show by scoring his first two goals for Chelsea. He opened the scoring with a curling effort after just 66 seconds and later added a 25-yard free-kick. The 36-year-old also set up Morgan Rogers for the second goal, becoming the third-oldest player to score and assist in the same match for the club.
Moises Caicedo, making his 150th appearance, was also instrumental. He recorded the highest pass-completion rate of any Chelsea starter and made and won more tackles than any other player on the pitch. Manager Xabi Alonso noted that with Caicedo in the side, Chelsea have won 48.1% of their Premier League matches, a figure that drops to 25% without him.
Alonso expressed his satisfaction with the duo, stating, "We signed him for everything. If he's able to score two beauties like today, we are more than happy for him." He added, "You always want to have Moises on the pitch. With him, we have a better midfield area and when you are better in the middle, you have a more complete team."
