TFG London, owner of Phase Eight, Hobbs, and Whistles, is investigating a cyber-attack that may have compromised customer data. Online orders have been paused as a precaution.

  • TFG London identified a cybersecurity incident affecting Phase Eight, Hobbs, and Whistles on Sunday.
  • The company is investigating whether personal or other sensitive customer information has been compromised.
  • Online orders for the affected brands have been paused, and some IT systems remain unavailable.

TFG London, the owner of UK retail chains Phase Eight, Hobbs, and Whistles, has reported that its websites and IT systems have been affected by a cyber-attack. The company, which is listed in South Africa, identified the incident on Sunday.

An investigation is currently underway to determine if any personal or sensitive customer information has been compromised. TFG London has stated that if personal information is found to have been accessed, affected individuals or organisations will be notified.

As a precautionary measure, all online orders for the affected brands have been paused, and some IT systems remain unavailable. Stores are continuing to trade, and TFG's other UK brands, Inside Story and White Stuff, are not impacted. Operations in Africa and Australia, which run on separate systems, are also unaffected.

External cybersecurity specialists have been engaged to help contain the incident, which has been reported to the relevant UK authorities. This attack follows a similar incident less than a week ago involving online fashion retailer Asos, where customer names, addresses, and recent search data were accessed.

Why this matters: The incident highlights the ongoing vulnerability of the retail sector to cyber-attacks, potentially impacting customer data and online services.

What this means for you: If you are a customer of Phase Eight, Hobbs, or Whistles, your online orders may be paused, and there is a possibility your personal data may have been compromised, pending the outcome of the investigation.
