Keely Hodgkinson secured a silver medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, with Swiss athlete Audrey Werro taking gold. Werro, 22, set a new championship record in the gripping final on Friday.
This marks Hodgkinson's latest medal, adding to her collection after previously winning gold at the Paris Olympics. She expressed pride in her ability to "continue to fight" and remain competitive, despite the emergence of new rivals.
Hodgkinson, 24, acknowledged the increasing competition in her event, stating, "There will always be competitors coming along and you don't know when someone is going to have a breakthrough." She also noted that she has lowered her personal best in all but her 2025 season over the past four years.
