Games Workshop has announced that acclaimed horror director Mike Flanagan will be working on scripts for its upcoming Warhammer 40,000 adaptations. Flanagan is known for Netflix series such as Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House.
The company confirmed that Henry Cavill, previously announced to produce and star in the TV and film projects based on the miniature tabletop wargame, remains involved. This update follows fan concerns about a lack of new information on the collaboration.
Games Workshop did not specify whether Flanagan would be working on a film or series, but stated that production company United Artists has also joined the project. The news was shared in the company's annual financial report, which also revealed record-high pre-tax profits of £275.7m for the fiscal year, a 4.9% increase.
In other developments, Games Workshop, which has a licensing deal with Amazon, has "almost completed" a new Warhammer-inspired episode for the Prime Video anthology series Secret Level. Work has also begun on a full animated series based on its Space Marine Deathwatch characters.
