The horror game that has left players screaming for more is about to unleash its terror on the big screen. Behaviour Interactive's 'Dead by Daylight' is officially getting the movie treatment, with James Wan at the helm as producer and Thordur Palsson set to direct.
This behemoth of a game has been luring in 70 million+ players since its launch in 2016, making it the most-played horror game in history. Its unique blend of killer versus survivor gameplay has seen it collaborate with some of the biggest names in horror, from 'Stranger Things' to 'Saw', and even throw in some surprise crossovers with metal legends Iron Maiden.
But it's not just about the past decade – 2025 was a record-breaking year for the game, with revenue soaring by over 50% and six million new players joining the fray. And Behaviour Interactive is far from done yet, as they revealed plans to drop even more limited-time game modes, survivors, and killers at their recent tenth-anniversary celebration.
The movie adaptation will see Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick bring the game's dark world to life on screen. Palsson wants to capture that same immersive dread players experience in-game, crafting a cinematic horror experience that'll leave audiences sleeping with the lights on for weeks to come.
With filming set to start next year, it's time to get excited – or terrified – about what 'Dead by Daylight' has in store for us. The wait is almost over...
