Two security personnel have been killed in a Houthi missile attack targeting the presidential palace in Aden, southern Yemen, according to officials. The al-Maashiq Palace is the seat of the internationally-recognised government.
Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani told the BBC that five ballistic missiles hit the palace, injuring many others, but the prime minister and other ministers were unharmed. The Houthis' military spokesman, Yahya Sarea, stated they struck "the Saudi enemy's military operations headquarters in Aden".
Yemeni Prime Minister Shaya Zindani condemned the attack, calling it "cowardly" and a "continuation of their criminal behaviour". He affirmed the government's continued operation and vowed it would not weaken the resolve of its forces against the Houthis.
The conflict in Yemen, which began in 2014, escalated in 2015 when a Saudi-led coalition intervened to restore the government. A four-year-old informal ceasefire began to unravel in July, leading to increased missile and drone attacks by the Houthis.
