Hull and East Yorkshire form housing and regeneration partnership

Hull and East Yorkshire has entered a new long-term partnership with Homes England to accelerate housing and regeneration across the region.

  • The Strategic Place Partnership involves Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority, Homes England, Hull City Council, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
  • The partnership aims to coordinate development, address issues like land and infrastructure, and integrate housing with wider community needs.
  • One project example is the East Bank Urban Village in Hull, planned for up to 850 homes, with phase one construction expected to begin in 2027.

Hull and East Yorkshire has established a new long-term Strategic Place Partnership with Homes England, aiming to increase home building and bring underused land back into use. The agreement was signed by Mayor Luke Campbell MBE and Pat Ritchie CBE, Chair of Homes England, at Hull Guildhall.

This partnership brings together the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority (HEYCA), Homes England, Hull City Council, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Its purpose is to create a coordinated pipeline of priority developments, integrate national expertise, and address obstacles such as land, infrastructure, and investment.

The initiative will build on existing projects, including the East Bank Urban Village in Hull, which is planned to transform brownfield land into a new riverside neighbourhood with up to 850 homes. Construction for the first phase of this project is anticipated to start in 2027. Homes England is also involved in plans for Easton Road in Bridlington, the redevelopment of Alamein Barracks in Driffield, and proposals for approximately 1,800 homes in Howden.

Mayor Luke Campbell MBE stated that the partnership offers a way to realise ambitions for more city centre living, modern mixed-use neighbourhoods, and the revitalisation of overlooked areas. Pat Ritchie CBE added that the partnership will align investment and unlock growth to create opportunities across the region.

Why this matters: The partnership aims to accelerate housing and regeneration, potentially leading to more homes and revitalised areas in Hull and East Yorkshire.

What this means for you: If you live in Hull and East Yorkshire, this partnership could lead to new housing developments, changes to local infrastructure, and the creation of new neighbourhoods in the region.
