Hull College is set to host a conference on 8 October focused on training individuals for the space industry. The event, part of World Space Week, will gather leaders from industry, education, and the space sector, according to a college spokesperson.
Discussions at the conference will cover the skills the space sector will require over the next five to 10 years. A key focus will be on developing a more diverse workforce for the industry.
Debra Gray, Principal of Hull College, stated that while people often associate space with astronauts and rockets, there is a significant underlying workforce involved in building, operating, maintaining, and supporting the necessary technology and infrastructure. She added that the ambition for growth in the UK space sector depends on having people with the right skills to deliver it, and that Further Education can make a substantial contribution.
