Humanoid Robots Break 100m Sprint Record at Beijing Games

Humanoid robots have surpassed human track records, including Usain Bolt's 100m sprint, at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing.

Humanoid robots have broken several human track records at the five-day World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. Among the records surpassed was Usain Bolt's 9.58-second 100m sprint.
A robot developed by the Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics finished the 100m sprint in 9.39 seconds. Additionally, a robot from smartphone maker Honor completed the 100m track in 9.32 seconds during a test run.
Now in its second year, the games feature more than 2,000 humanoid robots and aim to demonstrate China's advancements in robotics.
Why this matters: The games are intended to showcase China's rapid progress in advanced robotics, amid a technology race with the US.
