Hundreds of flights to and from Tokyo are experiencing delays on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, after Typhoon Dujuan swept across Japan's Pacific coast on Monday. Flightradar24 reports over 500 flights delayed at Tokyo Haneda airport and more than 200 at Tokyo Narita airport.
The typhoon has led to significant disruption, including flooding, landslides, and power outages. Five people have died across the Chiba, Kanagawa, and Miyazaki prefectures, with six individuals still missing.
Rail services have also been affected, with disruptions to sections of East Japan Railway’s Sobu, Narita, and Sotobo lines, as well as some bullet train services operating between Tokyo and Osaka.
The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has not updated its Japan travel advice following the typhoon. Its general advice for Japan warns that the tropical cyclone season runs from June to December, peaking between July and September.
