Ian Bancroft appointed Trustee and Wales Committee Chair of Heritage Fund

Ian Bancroft has been appointed as a Trustee and Chair of the Wales Committee to the National Lottery Heritage Fund board.

Ian Bancroft has been appointed as a Trustee and Chair of the Wales Committee to the National Lottery Heritage Fund board. The Prime Minister made the appointment, which commenced on 1 September 2026, for a term of three years.

Mr Bancroft, who has served as a public servant for over 35 years, was most recently Chief Executive of Wrexham County Borough Council from 2018 to 2024. His experience includes leading major heritage projects in both England and Wales, such as Wigan Pier and the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site.

Trustees of the National Lottery Heritage Fund are remunerated at £20,749 per annum. The appointment adheres to the Governance Code on Public Appointments, and Mr Bancroft has not declared any significant political activity in the last five years.
