Ipswich agree fee for Paraguay forward Julio Enciso from Strasbourg

Ipswich Town have reached an agreement to sign 22-year-old Paraguay international Julio Enciso from Strasbourg.

  • Enciso previously played under current Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil at Strasbourg.
  • This move would mark Enciso's return to Ipswich after a loan spell in 2025.
  • The fee has not been disclosed but is believed to be a substantial profit for Strasbourg.

Ipswich Town have reached an agreement to sign 22-year-old Paraguay international Julio Enciso from Strasbourg. Enciso impressed under current Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil at Strasbourg last season, with O'Neil reportedly pushing for the reunion.

This move would also mark Enciso's return to Ipswich, following a six-month loan spell from Brighton in 2025. Strasbourg officials reportedly believed Enciso had the potential for a future move to Chelsea, as both clubs share ownership through the BlueCo group.

While the fee has not been disclosed, those involved reportedly believe it will account for a sizeable portion of Ipswich's remaining transfer budget and deliver Strasbourg a substantial profit on the £7.7m they paid for him last summer. It remains unclear if this deal would surpass the £24m Ipswich paid for Emersonn earlier in the transfer window.

Ipswich have already made 10 major signings this summer, including Daizen Maeda from Celtic, Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City, and club-record signing Emersonn from Toulouse. Having secured promotion from the Championship, Ipswich are set to begin their Premier League campaign at home to Sunderland on 22 August.
