The Iranian Chargé d'Affaires, Mr. Ali Nasimfar, has been summoned to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in London, in a move that underscores the UK's deepening concern over the alleged activities of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qods Force (IRGC-QF) across Europe. This latest diplomatic initiative follows a series of attacks attributed to the IRGC-QF's proxy group, the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right (IMCR), which are said to have taken place between March and May this year.
The FCDO has accused the IRGC-QF of directing the IMCR to carry out these attacks, and warned that Iran's intelligence services have intensified their "malign behaviour" despite previous warnings. This development comes on the heels of a week of concerted efforts by the UK government to hold the Iranian regime accountable for its support of proxy groups and criminal networks operating in both Europe and within the UK.
The FCDO has made it clear that the UK will not tolerate foreign state-backed threats, and is committed to taking all necessary measures to protect British citizens. A key part of this strategy involves exposing and disrupting the efforts of those acting on behalf of the Iranian regime, which includes the designation of the IRGC under new state threats powers.
The summoning of Mr. Nasimfar is a significant diplomatic move, reflecting the UK's strong condemnation of the alleged actions and its determination to counter perceived threats to national security and the security of its European partners.
