Alexander Isak delivered his first brace for Liverpool, scoring two goals in three first-half minutes against Ipswich, which propelled Andoni Iraola to his inaugural Premier League victory as the Reds' manager. The Sweden international's goals were his fifth and sixth since his £125m move from Newcastle.
The match at Portman Road also saw summer signing Bradley Barcola make his Premier League debut for Liverpool, coming on in the 63rd minute. Cody Gakpo was instrumental in both of Isak's goals, providing two assists.
Ipswich, who had won their opening weekend match and performed well for a period against Manchester United, saw their 18-game unbeaten home league streak come to an end with the 2-0 defeat. Liverpool's victory followed two matches where Iraola's side had fallen behind early.
