Israeli settlers have been observed attacking Palestinians and setting olive trees alight in the occupied West Bank. Approximately a dozen settlers, dressed in black, reportedly charged down a hill near an outpost, which is illegal under international law, towards a field where Palestinians and activists were harvesting olives.
During the incident, the settlers torched around a dozen trees and threw stones using slingshots. Heidi Levine, a Washington Post photographer present at the scene, was taken to hospital where she told reporters she "got jumped" and described being kicked while on the ground.
The United Nations reports that the past two weeks have seen more attacks by violent Israeli settlers than during the entire harvest season last year. The UN also states that levels of settler violence have reached an all-time high this year.
