Japanese pop sensation YOASOBI has officially confirmed a new limited-time collaboration with the popular first-person hero shooter, Overwatch. The event, which commenced on 30 June, introduces a range of in-game content inspired by the duo's distinctive musical style, available to players for a set period.
Activision Blizzard, the developers behind Overwatch, announced that the collaboration, titled 'Overwatch x YOASOBI', brings six new legendary hero skins to the game. These cosmetics are designed with neon colours, hard-light aesthetics, and kanji-inspired motifs, reflecting YOASOBI's artistic vision. The skins also feature enhanced visual effects and dance emotes incorporating official music and choreography from the duo.
Beyond cosmetic enhancements, the event delves deeper into the game's narrative, focusing on the lore of Overwatch heroes Kiriko, Genji, and Hanzo. This exclusive release is directly linked to a new Overwatch game map and features music sung from the viewpoints of Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko, commissioned by Blizzard. The collaboration highlights YOASOBI's versatility, with member Ayase previously stating the duo's approach to music involves tackling many genres and challenges in each song.
