British tennis player Jack Draper was knocked out of the Canadian Open after his chronic arm injury reportedly resurfaced during his three-set defeat to Terence Atmane. Draper, 24, was seen crying during a changeover in the third set of the match, which he lost 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
This was Draper's sixth tournament of the season and his first since he withdrew from Wimbledon. He has been affected by bone bruising in his left arm for over a year, an injury he previously described as "extremely complicated".
The former world No 4, now ranked 143, has spoken about the mental impact of his injuries. Commentator Annabel Croft on Sky Sports described the scenes as "very, very upsetting to see", speculating that his arm was hurting.
