Jakub Hrůša, who is a year into his tenure as music director at the Royal Opera House, is preparing to conduct his first Parsifal, staged by Evgeny Titov. Looking ahead to next season, Hrůša is scheduled to conduct complete cycles of Wagner's Ring, staged by Barrie Kosky.
This will involve conducting all four Ring operas – Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, and Götterdämmerung – within a single week. Hrůša described this approach as courageous, stating, "I’m here, I’m the music director, the Ring should be done and wants to be done in its entirety, and I am courageous."
Hrůša previously conducted Wagner's Lohengrin at the Royal Opera House in 2022. He also worked with Barrie Kosky on Carmen in 2018 and on Katya Kabanova at the 2024 Salzburg festival.
