Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will be absent from Sunday's game against Carolina due to a superficial blood clot in his calf. The Eagles announced the decision on Thursday, stating that the clot was found after an ultrasound on 8 October.
Hurts indicated the injury occurred on 4 October during a game against the Los Angeles Rams, when he took a cleat to his calf. Despite the initial finding, medical staff in London concluded he could safely play in the subsequent game against Jacksonville, recommending a follow-up ultrasound.
After returning to Philadelphia, Hurts received treatment earlier this week. A further ultrasound on Wednesday revealed a "movement in the small blood clot." The Eagles have stated they will determine the appropriate course of treatment, with no timetable yet given for Hurts' return. Backup Tanner McKee is expected to start against the Panthers.
