A new survey for young people in Jersey, covering health, wellbeing, school life, and social media, is scheduled to open in October. Statistics Jersey announced that the 2026 Children and Young People’s Survey will be offered to students from Year 4 to Year 12, running from 5 to 16 October.
For the first time, the voluntary and anonymous online survey will include questions about social media apps and generative AI tools, including how often participants use them. Chief statistician Ian Cope stated that the survey provides "vital insight" into the lives of children and young people on the island.
The survey will also explore whether young people have caring responsibilities and sufficient food daily. Officials said the results would be used by the Government of Jersey to inform policy and enhance services. The final report, along with a child-friendly version, is expected to be published in Spring 2027.
