Bournemouth defender Alex Jimenez is on the verge of joining Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan, despite being suspended by his club over social media allegations. The 21-year-old Spanish player was dropped from Bournemouth's first team in May following a 'serious matter' related to 'posts circulating on social media'.
Jimenez initially joined Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan before signing permanently in February 2026. He made 32 appearances for the south coast side last season, scoring once. The Spain Under-21s international will now have the opportunity to continue playing with Fiorentina, with a 20m euros (£17m) option to make the move permanent included in the deal.
The loan deal means Jimenez can avoid a prolonged period of inactivity while his club conducts an investigation into the social media allegations. It is unclear what the outcome of the investigation will be or what disciplinary action may be taken against Jimenez.
Jimenez's move to Fiorentina has been agreed, but the exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The Spain Under-21s international is expected to link up with his new team in the coming weeks.
