Jimmy Kimmel criticises Trump's remarks on Iran and US cities

US President Donald Trump suggested that Iran could target American cities, drawing criticism from late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

  • President Trump discussed the ongoing Iran war at a rally in Nebraska on Monday.
  • Trump suggested Iran could target Los Angeles and San Diego, calling it a "small price to pay."
  • White House Communications Director Steven Cheung stated Trump's comments were taken out of context.

US President Donald Trump made remarks on Monday at a rally in Nebraska concerning the ongoing Iran war and rising prices. He suggested that Iran could "take out a city," specifically mentioning Los Angeles and San Diego, and described this as "a very small price to pay."

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel condemned these comments on his show Tuesday, playing a clip of Trump's speech to his studio audience. Kimmel described the statements as "indefensible" and "insane."

The White House has since criticised media coverage of Trump's remarks. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung stated on X that the media's reaction was "not rooted in reality," arguing that Trump was indicating US cities would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran had not been stopped.
