Scottish athlete Josh Kerr secured Commonwealth gold in the one-mile race on Saturday night in Glasgow. Following his victory, Kerr spent over half an hour engaging with fans, signing autographs and posing for selfies.
Kerr, who also broke the world mile record last month, shared insights into his training. He highlighted changes made in 2026, such as lying down daily from 2-4pm and using red-light therapy. These adjustments, alongside a team including a personal chef and coach Danny Mackey, have contributed to his successful season.
Despite his recent achievements, Kerr suggested that breaking the 1500m world record will likely wait until 2027. He noted that his body might need recovery after winning the world indoor title over 3,000m, breaking the world mile record, and securing Commonwealth gold within a fortnight.
Kerr maintains a disciplined lifestyle in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he lives with his wife and dog. He trains at 1,626m above sea level and typically goes to bed by 8:30pm, focusing on a strict routine.
