Josh Kerr has concluded a successful year by winning the 1500m title at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. The Scottish athlete, who previously set a new mile world record in July, finished in three minutes, 29.35 seconds, holding off Australia's Cameron Myers.
Kerr, 28, also claimed world indoor 3000m and Commonwealth mile titles earlier this year. He secured a prize of 150,000 US Dollars, equivalent to £110,885.
Looking ahead, Kerr expressed his ambition, stating, "we still want to go after that world record at 1500m." He acknowledged rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen's decision to skip the 1500m showdown, noting Ingebrigtsen's recent comeback from injury and his European and Ultimate 5000m titles.
In other news from the championship, double European individual sprint champion Amy Hunt finished fourth in the 200m final. Hunt, who won four gold medals in Birmingham, expressed pride in her season's consistency and is now looking forward to an eight-week break.
