Anthony Joshua reportedly agreed to forfeit more than £10 million in earnings to ensure his long-anticipated fight against Tyson Fury is staged in the UK, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn. Despite pushes from Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshikh, US associate Dana White, and Netflix to host the clash in New York, Joshua and Hearn insisted on a British venue.
The Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with its 80,000 capacity and retractable roof, was ultimately selected to host the fight on December 11. Hearn stated that Joshua made the decision to keep the fight in the UK, turning down an 'eight figures plus' sum.
In an unexpected development, Joshua has also enlisted the help of Tyson Fury's estranged uncle, Peter Fury, for guidance. Peter Fury, who previously coached his nephew, will provide assistance to Joshua, reuniting with trainer Ben Davison for the upcoming battle.
