Josko Gvardiol, the Croatia international, has committed his future to Manchester City by signing a new five-year contract, which includes an option for a sixth season. This move makes him the second Manchester City defender to agree an extension this week.
Gvardiol, who joined City from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £77m, was previously the club's most expensive defender. He was also named Manchester City's player-of-the-year for the 2024-25 season.
The defender stated that he knew renewing his contract was what he wanted as soon as City expressed interest. City's director of football, Hugo Viana, commented that Gvardiol is already one of the world's best defenders and that the club is committed to retaining its top talent.
