Former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has stated that departing Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan was subjected to "vile sexism" during her term in office. Gillard made the comments yesterday in an Instagram post.
Gillard said Allan, as the second woman to lead the state, would be remembered as a role model and trailblazer who governed for all Victorians, with a particular focus on the lives of women and girls. She added that Allan was courageous in combating misogyny, making it easier for women who follow.
In the same post, Gillard congratulated Ben Carroll, who has succeeded Allan as Premier. She expressed good wishes for him and his team in the coming months.
