Australian musician Julia Jacklin has released her fourth album, 'The Gem', which is now available. The new record explores themes of hope and hopelessness, continuing her examination of vulnerability and protection.
The 10-song album blends luscious pop-rock, bright, upbeat jangle, and stripped-back acoustics. Tracks like "God Sometimes" and "The Hardest Thing" showcase pop-rock, while the lead single "Get Away From Me (I Think I'll Love You Soon)" features an upbeat jangle. Acoustic elements are present in songs such as "Angel Vision" and the piano-led "You Turned On the Tap."
Jacklin's gentle and controlled voice brings stories to life with tenderness and emotion. The album also features harmonies from bandmate Jacob Diamond and the Melbourne folk duo the Maes on the closing track, "I Wish."
