Former England seamer Kate Cross has retired from professional cricket, concluding her career with Lancashire last month. Cross, who was among the first group of professionally contracted female players in 2014, stated she found "closure" in making her own decision to retire.
Cross is now considering a future in coaching, expressing openness to roles in either the men's or women's game. She noted the increasing number of coaching positions in women's cricket, partly due to the growth of the Hundred and the 'Project Darwin' expansion of the county setup.
She also highlighted examples of former teammates, such as Alex Hartley coaching in the Pakistan Super League and Sarah Taylor working with the England men's side, as evidence of changing narratives regarding women in coaching roles across the sport.
