The Secretary of State for Justice has approved the appointment of Kathryn Gillatt as a board member of the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS). Her term will last for four years, beginning today, 5 October 2026.
CAFCASS operates as a non-departmental public body, established under the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000. Its primary role is to safeguard and promote the welfare of children involved in family court proceedings where their welfare is a concern.
Ms Gillatt is a Chartered Accountant and a senior leader in healthcare and the civil service. Her professional background includes expertise in finance, corporate services, governance, and risk management. She has previously served as Audit Committee Chair at various NHS Trusts and Arm's Length Bodies since 2014, and held roles such as Interim Director of Finance at Nottingham CityCare and Director of Finance at Doncaster Children’s Trust.
