French electronic musician Kavinsky, whose real name was Vincent Belorgey, has died at the age of 50. He was best known for his song 'Nightcall', which achieved iconic status after being featured in the Ryan Gosling film 'Drive'.
A police source informed French newspaper Le Figaro that a stroke is the suspected cause of death. Belorgey had reportedly complained of headaches in recent days and was found at home after a neighbour contacted emergency services. Parisian authorities are investigating the death but have stated that no suspicious elements were found at his residence.
Kavinsky's music career began in the mid-2000s, and he was part of France's electronic music scene. His track 'Nightcall', co-produced with Daft Punk member Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and featuring Brazilian singer Lovefoxxx, became his most successful song, accumulating over half a billion streams on Spotify alone.
He performed 'Nightcall' at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, alongside French band Phoenix and Belgian pop singer Angèle. French President Emmanuel Macron paid tribute, calling him a source of French pride forever.”
