Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson has disclosed that an MRI scan uncovered an "abnormality" in her hamstring. The scan, following a suspected tear last year, revealed she has a "split" hamstring, possessing two tendons instead of one.
The 24-year-old athlete is currently learning to manage this anomaly. While it allows her to continue running even with one tendon torn, it may also increase her susceptibility to injuries.
Hodgkinson announced she had sustained another hamstring tear at the European Championships in Birmingham, prior to her second-place finish in the 800m final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest in September. She stated, "My body is quite literally built differently."
Hodgkinson will conclude her 2026 season at the all-female Athlos event in London on Friday.
