Kit Harington Open to Revisiting Shelved Jon Snow Spinoff

Kit Harington has indicated he is now open to revisiting the cancelled Jon Snow spinoff from Game Of Thrones, stating he feels "more comfortable" with the character and world.

  • Kit Harington played Jon Snow in all eight seasons of Game Of Thrones.
  • A sequel series following Jon Snow was in development but was ultimately abandoned.
  • Harington previously stated in December that he was "done" with playing Jon Snow.

Kit Harington has expressed a willingness to revisit the shelved Jon Snow spinoff series from Game Of Thrones. The actor, who played Snow throughout all eight seasons of the HBO series, said he now feels "more comfortable" with the character and its world.

Development on a sequel following Jon Snow after the 2019 finale had begun but was ultimately abandoned. Harington, speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, reflected on the project and suggested that enough time has passed for him to consider another attempt.

Harington stated that he, HBO, and George R.R. Martin had initially agreed the project should only proceed if a worthy story to continue Jon's arc was found. He added that he eventually became the driving force behind the decision to put the series aside, believing the story wasn't "quite the right" one at the time.

These comments mark a shift from Harington's position as recently as last December, when he reportedly said he was "done" with playing Jon and did not want to "go anywhere near" Game Of Thrones. In 2024, when he first confirmed the proposed series had been shelved, he explained that the team could not find "the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough."

The proposed project would have picked up after the conclusion of Game Of Thrones, which saw Jon kill Daenerys Targaryen before his exile and journey north of the Wall.
