Ezri Konsa, Arsenal's new centre-back, is feeling positive about the club's Champions League ambitions as they gear up for a significant clash against Bayern Munich. Konsa's confidence follows Arsenal's recent 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, marking their 10th win in 11 matches this season and another clean sheet.
Konsa, a boyhood Arsenal fan, has quickly settled into the squad since his £51m move from Aston Villa. He has played every minute of Arsenal's Premier League and Champions League matches since his debut, stepping up due to William Saliba's injury. He credits close friends and England teammates within the squad, including Eberechi Eze, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka, for helping him adapt.
The upcoming Champions League fixture on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena will see Konsa face his England teammate Harry Kane, who has an impressive scoring record for Bayern Munich with 155 goals in 157 appearances. Konsa has a favourable record against Kane, having won four of their seven previous encounters and conceding only two goals, both from penalties.
Konsa expressed his hunger for success, stating, "As players, the standards we have, the goals we have … we want to win everything – the Champions League, the Prem. Whatever trophies are in front of us." He previously won the Europa League with Aston Villa last season and is determined to achieve more with Arsenal.
