The Lanarkshire AI Growth Zone has secured a £300 million investment package, with Dell Technologies announcing it will establish a base in the area. These announcements, made today, 18 August 2026, are expected to support over 3,400 jobs, alongside skills and training opportunities.
The investment includes a £202 million guarantee from the National Wealth Fund, which helps unlock the total £300 million financing package from ING, ABN AMRO, Santander, the Scottish National Investment Bank, and Siemens Financial Services. This funding will enable developer DataVita to expand its existing DV1 datacentre and construct a second facility.
Dell Technologies will move its Scottish team to Mercury House within Lanarkshire’s AI Innovation Park. UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan stated that these announcements will help ensure Scotland is at the forefront of economic opportunities, bringing investment and reindustrialisation to communities like Lanarkshire.
