Veteran Spanish rider Mikel Landa claimed his first Grand Tour stage win in nine years, and his first in the Vuelta since 2015, on the mountainous 186.8km route from La Calahorra to Collado del Alguacil. The 36-year-old Soudal Quick-Step rider finished 47 seconds ahead of Norway's Tobias Johannessen.
Compatriot Enric Mas, 31, is on the verge of securing the Vuelta a Espana title, having stretched his lead over four-time winner Primoz Roglic to more than two minutes. With only a processional final stage remaining, the Movistar rider is poised to become the first Spaniard to win the race since Alberto Contador in 2014.
Britain's Oscar Onley, 23, is currently sixth overall and is set to win the white jersey for best young rider. Mas has held the lead since favourite Tadej Pogacar crashed out on stage eight and is now close to his first Grand Tour victory after being a Vuelta runner-up three times.
