Jeremy Vernon, a 51-year-old resident of Launceston, Cornwall, is voluntarily clearing overgrown pathways and weeds in the town. He undertakes this work free of charge, stating it helps him keep fit and provides satisfaction from public reaction and social media appreciation.

Vernon, a self-employed steel erector, moved back to Cornwall after having a kidney removed due to cancer. He has contacted Launceston Town Council and Cornwall Council regarding his activities, noting that his public liability insurance may be invalidated as he does not have official permission to work on the pathways.

Cornwall Council stated it supports residents volunteering and that its contractor Cormac oversees community-led projects on council land. The council provides indemnity insurance for volunteers who register with Cormac at volunteers@cormacltd.co.uk, offering ongoing advice and support.

One resident, Elz Ravenscroft, expressed gratitude for Vernon's efforts, particularly for making a path her daughter uses for school safer. She highlighted his dedication to the town and its people.
