Lazio have climbed to the top of Serie A, drawing level on points with Inter, following a 3-1 win over Monza on Sunday. The victory marks Lazio's fifth in six matches, maintaining their unbeaten start to the season and bringing their total to 16 points.
Nuno Tavares opened the scoring for Lazio in the third minute, with Gustav Isaksen doubling their lead midway through the first half. Monza's Lorenzo Lucchesi was sent off in the 35th minute. Despite pulling a goal back, Monza conceded a third in the closing stages.
Elsewhere, Roma were held to a goalless draw by Como, the first of the Italian season. Roma's Donyell Malen was dismissed early in the second half for a dangerous tackle. Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini noted, "We played two-thirds of the match a man down, that is the disappointing thing."
These results leave Inter and Lazio two points clear of Roma in the league standings. Bologna also secured their first win of the season, beating Lecce 2-1.
