The City of London's iconic Leadenhall Building, colloquially known as The Cheesegrater, is once again hosting the annual Leadenhall Live festival. Kicking off on 23 June and continuing until 16 July, the three-week cultural event promises a diverse array of free activities designed to engage and entertain visitors to the Square Mile.
With more than 30 events scheduled, the festival's line-up spans a wide spectrum of interests. Attendees can look forward to evenings of live comedy, music takeovers by Sofar Sounds, and engaging Q&A sessions. Unique offerings include a queer line dancing party on 1 July and a panel discussion titled "Shit I’m in my 30’s: What’s the plan for retirement?", reflecting a blend of entertainment and practical discussion.
Other notable events include a conversation on the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence on 30 June and a talk focusing on leadership and inclusion, also on 1 July. The festival is also collaborating with AI-powered software company Bolt.new for a hackathon. For those unable to attend in person, selected events will be filmed and uploaded as podcasts to the festival's YouTube channel, ensuring wider accessibility.
This initiative coincides with a series of weekend events being rolled out at the nearby historic Leadenhall Market, just a two-minute walk away, which will feature live music throughout the summer. Chris Hayward, Policy Chairman at the City of London Corporation, emphasised that the festival's programme, encompassing creative workshops, free performances, and culinary delights, aims to inject energy and increase footfall in the area, thereby supporting local businesses.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the building's owners, C C Land, building management firm Savills, and creative agency Ch!lled, all working to curate a vibrant cultural offering in the heart of the capital's financial district.
