Leeds United have completed the signing of England goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City for a club-record fee of up to £45m. Trafford has committed to a five-year deal at Elland Road, becoming Daniel Farke’s third summer acquisition.
Manchester City have reportedly inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause into the deal. They also hold a matching rights option, allowing them to re-sign Trafford if he departs Leeds in the future.
City are now reportedly looking to sign Argentina international Geronimo Rulli from Marseille as a potential replacement for Trafford and as a deputy to Gianluigi Donnarumma. Trafford had rejoined City last summer from Burnley, matching Newcastle's £31m bid.
Leeds were in the market for a goalkeeper following the departures of Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow, who moved to Arsenal and Manchester United respectively. Lucas Perri, signed last year, had also lost his place.
