Lena Dunham has confirmed a limited-series revival of her drama 'Girls', with several original cast members set to return.

  • Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Andrew Rannells are confirmed to reprise their roles.
  • The new limited series will consist of five episodes and is scheduled to begin production next summer.
  • Adam Driver has not been announced as returning for the revival.

Lena Dunham has confirmed that her drama series 'Girls' will return for a limited-series revival. The announcement was made via a fake Zoom call featuring former stars.

Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Andrew Rannells are all set to reprise their roles in the new series. Dunham stated that the decision to return was based on having a "specific story we were burning to tell."

The original series ran for five seasons between 2012 and 2017. The upcoming limited series will consist of five episodes and is scheduled to start production next summer. HBO Max confirmed the return of the show.

Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO programming, noted that the new series will focus on the characters as they approach their 40s. Fan reactions to the news have been mixed, with some expressing excitement and others concern about revisiting the characters later in life.

Adam Driver, who played a love interest in the original series, has not been announced as part of the revival. Dunham made allegations about Driver's behaviour on set in her 2026 memoir, 'Famesick'.
