Liberal Democrat President Josh Babarinde has expressed a combative stance as the party's annual conference gathers in Brighton. Speaking from Toynbee Hall in London, Mr Babarinde, 33, stated, "There are big modern giants that are getting in the way of people’s ability to thrive, and it is the job of Liberal Democrats to address that."

Mr Babarinde, the Eastbourne MP, indicated a desire to "flip the table over and rise up," targeting entities ranging from big tech to crypto billionaires. He believes people are seeking a force to "help break some of those giants and give power and cash back to people who this country is meant to be working for."

The Liberal Democrats secured 71 MPs in the 2024 election. However, the party has consistently polled at approximately 11% for several months. Around 5,000 Liberal Democrat members are attending the conference this weekend.
