Pupils travelling by bus from Tetney to King Edward VI Grammar School in Louth are experiencing longer journey times due to a revised timetable implemented for the new academic year. A 13-year-old pupil, Isla, now spends an hour each way on the bus, an increase from her previous 25-minute journey.
Isla's mother, Clare, stated the new timetable is "failing the children of the village." Lincolnshire County Council's head of transport services, Mike Read, said the changes were part of a review aimed at easing congestion in Louth and addressing rising demand for school transport, with the revised route serving additional villages.
The council confirmed the journey time remains within Department for Education guidance, which generally suggests secondary school pupils should spend no more than 75 minutes travelling to school each way. The local authority plans to review the route with the operator once the service has settled in.
