Two days of funeral ceremonies for Lindsey Graham, the late South Carolina Republican senator, began in Washington on Tuesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are set to be among the mourners.
Both leaders are also scheduled to meet Donald Trump at the White House. Memorial events on Tuesday are starting on Capitol Hill, where Graham served as a member of the House for eight years and a senator for 23 years.
From the Capitol Rotunda, Graham's casket will be moved to the Washington National Cathedral for an afternoon service. Donald Trump is among the scheduled speakers at this service.
Graham, a longtime foreign policy hawk, was working on a new Russia sanctions bill when he met Zelenskyy in Kyiv earlier this month. He died shortly after returning to Washington from a heart condition at the age of 71.
