Liverpool to Face Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in Champions League League Phase

Liverpool have learned their eight opponents for the Champions League league phase, including tough fixtures against Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

  • Liverpool will play Atletico Madrid (home) and Inter Milan (away) in the Champions League league phase.
  • The Reds were in pot one for the draw due to their UEFA coefficient.
  • New manager Andoni Iraola leads Liverpool after two consecutive eliminations by eventual champions PSG.

Liverpool will face Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan as part of their Champions League league-phase fixtures, following the draw on Thursday. These matches are anticipated to be among their most challenging tests in the competition.

The six-time European champions, who were in pot one for the draw, will also play Porto, Club Brugge, Villarreal, Fenerbahce, Lens, and LASK. Kick-off dates and times for these games are expected to be finalised within the next 48 hours.

Under new manager Andoni Iraola, Liverpool fans are hoping for a strong European campaign. The team was eliminated by eventual champions PSG in the last two seasons, with last year's exit occurring at the quarter-final stage.

The league phase involves 36 teams, each playing eight games. Teams are drawn from four pots based on their UEFA coefficient, with two opponents selected from each pot (one home, one away). Teams cannot play another team from the same country and are limited to facing no more than two teams from one country.
