Lloyd's of London has encouraged its staff to work from home this week as a heatwave is expected to affect London. Temperatures in the Square Mile are forecast to reach 33C.
Around 1,200 employees at the Lloyd’s Building, located at One Lime Street, have been informed they can use their judgement to stay at home. However, the Lloyd’s office will remain fully open and provides air conditioning for all staff and insurance brokers.
Other firms in the City have also adjusted working arrangements during previous high temperatures. Last month, JPMorgan Chase, ING, and Deutsche relaxed desk orders during a June heatwave. ING dropped return-to-office requirements last month due to a Met Office red alert health warning, but is not urging staff to stay home this week as no such caution is currently in place.
