London's artificial intelligence (AI) startups have secured $12 billion in funding during 2026, according to Dealroom data. This figure represents a significant portion of the $14.7 billion raised by all London startups this year.
Among these, six companies—Wayve, Superintelligence, ElevenLabs, Recursive, Ineffable Intelligence, and Isomorphic Labs—have each raised more than $500 million. Recursive, Ineffable Intelligence, and Isomorphic Labs were founded by alumni of DeepMind.
This funding landscape is influencing a trend known as 'Londonmaxxing,' where founders aim to optimise the London tech scene's offerings. This approach reportedly contrasts with the 'hustle culture' often associated with Silicon Valley.
One example of this trend is the London Island Founder House, or 'Lift House,' an East London co-living and workspace. Launched in March, it aims to promote a holistic approach to life for founders, with residents engaging in activities like communal journaling, volleyball, and shared meals, alongside their startup work.
